FLAMINGOS do not get their pink feathers until 1-3 years of age, which are caused by carotenoid pigments in their food. Flamingos rarely lay down and sleep standing up, usually on one leg.

 

POPULATION STATUS LEAST CONCERN: Flamingos can be found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica.
